Hello

Hello, I'm Dr. Niza, a licensed clinical psychologist based in South Florida.

I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety, OCD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and disruptive behaviors in children, adolescents, and young adults. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care.

I work directly with children, teens, and adults to help them better understand their emotions and build tools to manage anxious thoughts, big feelings, and unhelpful behaviors. With toddlers and preschoolers, I partner closely with caregivers—offering support, coaching, and practical strategies to reduce tantrums, avoidance, and reassurance-seeking, while strengthening connection and confidence at home.

I tailor every treatment plan to the individual and family, drawing from gold-standard approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT)

  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

  • Unified Protocols

  • PEERS® social skills training

  • Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

In addition to therapy, I offer comprehensive diagnostic and psychoeducational evaluations, with a special focus on autism spectrum disorder from toddlerhood through adulthood. My evaluation process is thoughtful, collaborative, and neurodiversity-affirming, designed to help families gain clarity, feel validated, and know what steps to take next.

I bring not only deep clinical experience, but also the perspective of a fellow parent—I know how challenging and emotional it can be when your child is struggling. My goal is always to meet families with compassion, offer clear guidance, and help create lasting change that feels both doable and meaningful.

My Story

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami (UM), where I also completed my clinical internship at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the Miller School of Medicine, with a specialization in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment (CAMAT) Program, focusing on evidence-based treatments for youth with anxiety and mood disorders. After becoming licensed, I served as a clinical faculty member in the Department of Psychology at UM, as the Clinical Director of CAMAT, and a bilingual evaluator at the Autism Spectrum Assessment Clinic (ASAC) before transitioning to full-time private practice.  I continue to stay connected to clinical training by supervising doctoral trainees through UM.

I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorders/Tourette’s, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and disruptive behavior disorders. I have extensive experience conducting psychoeducational and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, with particular expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of ASD.

I have met all requirements and have obtained an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) from the PSYPACT Commission. By obtaining this authorization, this serves to show that I have met all requirements to be eligible to provide interjurisdictional services under the authority of PSYPACT | APIT Number: 18035.

I have authored numerous articles in the area of child and adolescent treatment outcomes and have presented findings at national conferences, including the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy (ABCT) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA).  â€‹

Outside of my clinical work, I'm also a mom of two young children, so I understand firsthand how messy, exhausting, and beautiful early childhood can be. I bring both professional expertise and real-life parenting experience to my work with parents and families. I approach therapy with warmth, practicality, and a deep respect for what families are juggling every day.
